How Weight Deltas on Summary Cards Are Calculated

Modified on Thu, 30 Oct at 1:00 PM

The weight delta (the green up or down arrow shown on your summary cards) represents how much your weight has changed during the visible timeframe on your chart — for example, over 1 week, 1 month, or 3 months.

However, you might notice that these deltas sometimes appear smaller than expected. This isn’t a bug — it’s related to how Pokii calculates the start and end points for the visible chart window.

How It Works

Normal Chart View (Default)

  • In the default view, Pokii’s chart is centered on today.

  • This means the app looks at a window of time that extends equally before and after today.

  • The delta shown on the card is calculated from:
Start of the centered window → Today

For example:

  • On the 1-month view, on Oct 30th, the window would span about Oct 15–Nov 14.

  • Since it’s centered on today, the delta covers only about the past 15 days, not the full 30.

  • This makes the weight change appear smaller than you might expect for “month.”

Affected Timeframes

All summary views — 1W, 1M, and 3M — use this centered-window calculation.
If you’re expecting “last week,” “last month,” or “last 3 months” deltas, the numbers on the cards may look slightly off because they only use half of the full span.

Future Update

We agree that deltas should more clearly reflect the full timeframe.
Here’s the plan going forward:

ViewCurrent BehaviorPlanned Behavior
Summary CardsDelta from center window → Today (≈ half span)Delta for the full timeframe (last 7/30/90 days)
Full-Screen ChartToday on the right (full span)Will stay the same
Normal ChartCentered on TodayOption to show Today in center or on the right

This change will make the deltas more intuitive and consistent across all views.

Why It Was Designed This Way

The original chart layout was built to show both past and projected trends — such as upcoming medication levels.
By centering on today, Pokii could display both your recent history and a short look-ahead in one view. While that design choice helped visualize future data, it also meant the deltas represented a shorter time window than most users might expect.

My Weight Delta Shows 0

If your weight delta shows 0, go into Settings / Charts and select either Mean or Median, chances are, you have 'Do Not Average' selected.
